A Dinner Date With Ah Moi

These are my Malaysian friends Carol & Christine.. Taken when we had dinner last nite at this Chinese restaurant 'Lam Kwai Fong'.. The plan was to eat sweet & sour pork..somehow we forgot to order it! But we had sweet & our chicken.

(by the way the service wasn't anything to shout about so we all decided not to leave any tips..!)

They were clearing our plates even though we were still eating! Plus there were like three waitresses watching us so that they could quickly clear the table up. It felt a little ackward having someone pressuring you to finish your food!

Christine is actually my batchmate - if you can remember some earlier pictures that I posted maybe 2 years ago? Nyways, we call eachother "Amoi-ah"

Park Avenue Home

A request long overdue from my sister. Our new condo pictures. But this was taken in January and my darling Vijay did 98% off the workmanship that includes the fixtures, fixing the fans, the wiring, the designing and set up of the kitchen, the plastering of the ceiling, the installation of the shower heaters and a lot more.I did help sandpaper the edges of our gigantic mirror in the dining area and cleaning... it looks so beautiful now. I'll take more pictures when I go back..

When in Dubai...

Yesterday (& today-we couldnt sleep the whole nite) me and my girlfriend Shalina, decided to hang out and discuss our lives (as we do whenever we get the chance) This time we decided to chat but in the gym - a healthier choice la..so ere are some pictures to show you how the gym at my apartment looks like. Yay, I finally finished watching the entire Desperate Housewives-season two and please disregard my comment on Tom earlier. I love him! He is the best husband on Wisteria Lane! And oh my Gosh! Carlos!!!!!! Yucksy! Ok I'm not going to spoil it for the people who havn't finished it. My goodness you can get so hooked onto it once you watch it from the beginning. Punyala main twisted! I think it's time that I go to bed now...*yawn*

Food! Glorious Food!

Ok I have just deleted two things from my list of cravings of this month. I have been eating Thai food religiously for the past two days and I can keep goin onfor a week if I have to! The other thing that I had today was some chocolate. Although I don't think those two finger tiny Kit Kat wafers count as chocolate. I want a whole big bar of Hazel Nut Cadbury chocolate and it has to be from Australia. Hmmm YUMMY... Chocolate. People need chocolate...and when I say people I mean ME.

Hope I get an Australian flight next month...

For the past few hours not only have I been stuck on my couch, I have also been downloading many songs & Desperate Housewives Season Two! Yes MIMI...I am up till the one when Tom does something terrible to Lynnette! I knew he was too good to be true! Now am waiting for the season finale la..and I am getting restless - cannot wait to see what happens next...Ok will write tomorrow-later I mean...xoxo

It's been a while since I've updated you all about my nephew Thomas.

As you can see he is growing up very happily and healthy. My sister said that he already has 6 teeth and he has already practised using them on my sisters shoulder...
My sister also sent me a video of him singing his heart out and 'baby-talking' to himself. He is such a happy baby and apparently smiles at anyone - very friendly. But he only wants my mum and his mummy so it takes some time for him to want you. Aww isn't that so cute..My brother said that when he was there last May, he managed to carry Tom a lot coz by then Tom got used to his "scent"
Here he is again in his tub with his rubber duckies...look at his eyebrows - I asked my sister if she plucked them because they look puurrrfect...

Athens Part II

Hi...Yay I can post pictures again! After what it felt like ten years, I finally managed to update my blog with some illustrations...

This is the view of the Temple of the Olympian Zeus from the Acropolis...It looks stunning doesn't it...it took me and my colleague 30 mins to get up the Acroplis from the main entrance. Then I had my 'Old-Lady-moment'..where I felt so unfit especially when there were old people walking faster than us without breaking a sweat...
As you can see from the picture, there were so many people visiting the shrines. The stair cases up there were magestic - made of marbles and if you just sit down to take a break (like I had to) you could feel the gentle breeze and the marbles cool your butt off as you have the most spectacular view of Athens. It was soooo beautiful - words can't describe the feeling.

When you do go to Athens (and you will- Dreams can come true)

Please let me know and I will tell you the best things to do and where to eat.

At the tip of the mountain where the grand Acropolis stands, is a gigantic flag of Greece. I think thats where I took the picture of the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Hmm up there it was so windy I was so afraid I would be blown off...I had more pictures but because I didn't have enough space in my memory stick I had to delete them. The next time I will take more pictures okie.

The next time I am going to to Athens I am definitly going to one of the islands. According to some of my friends they are so beautiful. Everybody else went to the Islands because they had already visited the Acropolis. Oh if you're wondering what the spidy-cow picture here is all about, well, it was hanging from a building next to the hotel that I was in..I'm not sure what building it was because all the signs were in Greek! Yep everything was in Greek, the road signs, the food packaging, the menu's. Everything!

Oh and the next time that you go there, the only thing you will be familiar with is a very unpopular Starbucks because the Greek believe in their own food which I think is really impressive. Their version of McDonald's is Goody's and it's not bad... It's a fast food chain that I will surely go back. They serve babi's la..punya sedap..

Okie anyways I have to go now, I'm a little sleepy. Have to work again tomorrow..Take care, God Bless.

Can't post any pictures

Something is wrong with the server ere so I can't post any pictures.

I can't share anything too coz I havn't been doing much here. I have days off till the 19th and that means me staying home and cooped up watching TV. It's just so hot to go out even at night.

As you all know summer has started and when you walk outside it feels as if you are in a gigantic sauna! 37-42 degress and 90% humidity. And the heat really gets to you even if your outside for a mere 5 minutes. I really don't know how the construction workers do it. They all seem like the heat isn't bothering them.

I remember reading the newspapers a few days ago and the headlines mentioned that the government of Dubai is considering to change the working times from morning to night during summer as the sun rays may cause cancer to the construction workers. Well I hope they do consider it, after all they are all just humans. So..a lot of respect to those guys working in the hot HOT sun in Dubai...

(I can't wait till "winter" comes)

Athens - Greece

Hello People who read my blog... Yes I have finally decided to come back to Dubai from my days off in KL. I really wish that I could keep my job and still be around my family and friends in KL & KK. Malas oh me. I recently had a wonderful opprotunity to fly to Athens and can I just say that I had a blast! I got a sunburn but it was one of the best days I've had recently... The weather was beautiful - it was around 24 degrees and it was very windy. The place that I visited, Acropolis was on a mountain and there was one point when I thought I was going to be blown off coz the wind was so strong! Anyways, please enjoy my pictures and Sorreee for not being ere to update my blog..

I paid 12 Euros to enter the site. It took us like 3 hours in total to cover the entire shrine. I was with another fellow Malaysian and it since it was her first time in Athens, we decided to discover the city by foot. In fact that's a really good way to explore any destination...

The term acropolis means upper city and many of the city states of ancient Greece are built around an acropolis where the inhabitants can go as a place of refuge in times of invasion. It's for this reason that the most sacred buildings are usually on the acropolis. It's the safest most secure place in town. As little as 150 years ago there were still dwellings on the Acropolis of Athens. Those of you who have read Aristophanes will recall that in Lysistrata the women have Athens barricaded themselves in the fortress in protest, being tired of their men going to war against Sparta. Depriving them of sex, cooking and care it was a terrific strategy that might even work today. Behind me is the magestic structure that has been on the mountains for over 2000 years. If you can see clearly, there are steels holding some of the building up because they are doing some restoration. Because of oxidation the structure is slowly falling apart and I really think that its goodthat they still want to maintain most of it.It can get very hot up there and gasping for breath can take way from your ability to marvel at the greatest of all archaeological sites but I had fun!

Below the Acropolis is the theater of Herod Atticus built by the Romans in 161 AD and still used today for classical concerts, ballet, performances of high cultural value and Yanni. Further on is the Theater of Dionysious the first stone theater and home to Sophocles, Aeschylus, Euripides and Aristophanes. It was rebuilt around 342 BC by Lykourgos and then enlarged by the Romans to be used for gladiator fights.I would've taken a nicer picture but since I'm afraid of heights I just decided to take a picture in front of it...

The Temple of Olympian Zeus

My first picture in Athens: The Panathian Stadium. Panathinaiko's place is unique. Situated in the city centre, Panathinaiko -- also known as Panathian Stadium or "Kallimarmo" -- was created out of the ruins of an ancient stadium built in 329 BC: a simple, pure, oval stade of marble slab benches and steep marble steps.
Roughly 50 rows from top to bottom...can sit 312 000 people.. I was so exited to be there...


So as you can see..I really did enjoy myself in Athens.

Oh and i forgot to mention: Greek people love feta cheese, olive oil and they eat their sandwiches with french fries or potato wedges and there is not a single Mc Donalds in sight. (Only at the airport) They have a local fast food eatery thats called Goody's very nice serving the local favourites..

This is a picture with me and my fiance's family in Johor Baru on the eve of Mother's Day.. We had a really wonderful dinner and even had a bowling session after that. I had so much fun and to be honest I havn't bowled since my weekly visits to center point...

This is my new Thai friend Nadia...very sweet and funny girl. We had so much fun on our 7 day Bangkok trip. I miss her. This picture was taken by her boyfriend whom bought me a pair of house slippers. Nice guy.
This is my South-Korean friend, Mihi..also a flight attendant and this was taken in Brisbane in March this year. We had lots of Korean food together..hmm yummy!
